Although the design of the Mike Tyson tattoos has remained virtually unchanged since its creation, from time to time he has made minor changes or additions to the pattern. These changes reflect Tyson’s changing tastes and preferences.
The most puzzling pre-fight antics have come courtesy of Jake Paul, which we kind of expect from the guy who illegally touts cryptocurrencies and once got married purely for social media engagement. This time, his stunts are focused squarely on his imminent opponent, with Paul recently revealing a facial tattoo identical to Tyson’s.
Paul, with a record of 9-1 and six knockouts, has swiftly transitioned from YouTuber to a force to be reckoned with in the boxing arena. Despite a lone loss to Tommy Fury, Paul has defeated notable opponents such as Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.
In a 2012 interview with Graham Bensinger, Mike Tyson discussed the story behind his face tattoo, saying, “I just thought it was a cool tattoo. I was going to get a bunch of hearts and stuff. That would have been really stupid. I was going to be the man of hearts, baby. I was very close. Victor Perez, the tattoo artist said ‘I ain’t doing that. I can’t do that’.”
It marks the latest in a long string of pre-fight taunts directed at Tyson. Last week, Paul shared a video (with the fake face tattoo) of himself biting a prosthetic ear, clipped together with images of a man with a bloodied ear. The video references Tyson’s infamous fight against Evander Holyfield in 1997, when the boxer bit off Holyfield’s ear. The move cost Tyson both the game and his boxing licence, though he was later reinstated.
Additionally, Jake’s largest tattoo is on his back, which shows a picture of a sword surrounded by a thicket of leaves and vines, which runs from the back of his neck to the bottom of his back. It also has a banner around it that reads “To Live Ex Die.”
He has yet another portrait of Che Guevara on his left abdomen. It is a copy of the famous Guerrillero Heroico photograph. Tyson got it in prison as well, as he was deeply mistrusting of his state and current government back then. Additionally, Kid Dynamite has a portrait of Monica Turner on the left forearm and a Dragon tattoo on his right forearm.
Paul has often expressed his respect for Tyson, citing him as one of his boxing idols. By getting a face tattoo similar to Tyson’s, Paul aims to honor the former heavyweight champion and further solidify his own identity as a serious contender in the boxing arena.
This temporary tattoo was set to last for at least one week. While the bet was relatively safe, as it was only for a week, not everyone can confidently pull off a face tattoo. Surprisingly, Julia managed to carry it off quite well, and it suited her appearance.
